for developers
amBX empowers creative people
Philips amBX does not charge developers to become licensees and offers a range of implementation support and training.
You can create, quickly and easily, any ambient effects you wish, from subtle shifts in tone to in-your-face action. You can author the ambient environment that surrounds the consumer, as well as delivering visceral thrills for specific events like explosions, attacks, firefights, car chases and more. The power is in your hands.
content + peripherals + amBX = new experiences
With amBX, developers can give even freer rein to their imaginations - whether it’s designing new content or retrofitting existing games.
amBX also places a really low load on processors and memory: it’s an enabling technology. Peripherals in the room reflect and enhance your content and ideas.
it’s easy
amBX is designed so content creators can specify experiences without having any knowledge of the exact environment where they will be replayed.
It doesn’t matter what amBX-enabled devices people have in their room: amBX uses what’s available: lights, sound systems, active furniture and more. New devices automatically become part of the amBX mix. If a device is removed, its contribution transfers to other devices. If a new device is added, it automatically joins in to provide the best experience possible.
push the experience to the limit!
amBX is being introduced into the gaming market first, starting with PC platforms in 2006, followed by other gaming platforms and additional media from 2007.
Hardware, peripheral and device manufacturers are creating amBX-enabled products now. These special devices include video, audio, colour-controlled lighting, active furniture, fans and more. They will all join in automatically, based on your content and timings.
