Use the preferences panel to change the way amBX notifies you and checks for updates.

Notifications

You can choose to show the amBX icon in the Windows notification area at all times to quickly access the amBX Control Panel. Double-click on the icon to open the amBX Control Panel or right-click to open the menu.

If you un-tick "Notify me when applications are added", the amBX icon will never pop up to tell you when a compatible application or game has been added to the list in the Configure amBX software panel.

Updates

amBX will automatically check for updates every 14 days from the date of installation. If you choose "Manually check for updates" amBX will only check for updates when you click on the "Check for updates" link in the amBX Control Panel.

Software Detection

The Software Detection options control how amBX will detect compatible software. If you choose "Do not add unknown applications", no untested applications will appear in the Configure amBX software panel.

You can also disable automatically generated effects completely with the second option. In this case, only games and applications with embedded amBX will continue to run.
