IMPROVING THE ACCURACY OF ESG SCORES

Key Features: Data visualisation, multi-protocol support, data aggregation, cloud connectivity, data integration.

This ESG Consultant works with many of the FTSE 500 companies, particularly financial organisations, to help them with non-financial reporting. This helps to future-proof their clients’ businesses, ensures they comply with regulations and helps them continuously improve to reduce risk.

BRIEF

An ESG consultant required a system integrator who could access their customer’s building lighting energy and carbon data on their behalf.

Many buildings are now having to present ESG scores and improvement plans and show how they intend to meet net-zero goals. ESG consultants are being hired by large organisations to provide them with a score. However, many consultants struggle to access data from various sources to create an accurate picture. Lighting is particularly problematic for many stakeholders to access. Given that lighting accounts for 40% of a building’s energy usage, it is important it is included. This consultant required a middleware solution to bridge the gap for them so that they could deliver a thorough report for their client.

SOLUTIONS

amBX’s flexible, protocol agnostic architecture meant that accessing the data from the lighting system was quick and easy. This could be securely passed onto the consultancy for them to embed with the rest of the building data and generate their report.

We were also able to offer an additional benefit, as our software has a digital twin; it operates a virtual replica of the building in real time. This allows lighting energy usage data to be simulated and role-played to gain an understanding of the best energy strategy before applying it to the physical asset. It can deliver current usage values, energy, efficiency, and carbon emissions for lighting to support detailed ESG reporting. All of this can potentially be achieved without any hardware being installed.

RESULTS

Our customer was able to access the lighting data so that it could form part of their ESG report for their client. They also used the digital twin simulation as part of their suggestions for an improvement plan.
