SmartCore FAQs
The smart building and smart lighting industries can be very complex, and it is sometimes difficult to understand where new technology solutions fit within the overall picture.
We acknowledge that our software solution, SmartCore, can be difficult to fully grasp at first. Therefore, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions to help answer your queries. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
What is SmartCore?
SmartCore is our lighting control and building integration software. It is interoperable with the major control and communication protocols in smart buildings. It allows closed, once siloed systems to be able to talk to each other.
Do you sell hardware?
We do not sell hardware, but we work with a number of hardware partners who do. Each solution is unique to the hardware provider; we add value to their products by smart enabling them, providing them with a UI and connectivity to the cloud.
Do you install the solution?
We do not install the solutions but have a partner network of approved install and commissioning experts that can support projects directly. This is crucial for us as we do not offer hardware and therefore manage a flexible partner programme so end users can work with hardware and commissioning companies that they feel comfortable with.
How do you integrate with smart buildings?
We have embedded the main building and cloud communication protocols into SmartCore; this allows for two-way integration with our intelligent lighting, sensor and controller software.
This enables cloud platforms, building control systems or our lighting control platform to communicate and drive actions in any of the connected systems.
What are the benefits of SmartCore?
A few of the main benefits are:
Multi lighting control protocol support
Intelligent local lighting control
Remote access
Two-way cloud and building communication
Greatly reduced holistic costs for deploying a smart building
Who would buy SmartCore?
Our hardware and delivery partners are licensed resellers along with some key platform providers. We licence our software to a diverse set of customers and add value to their existing offering or help them develop their own solution for the market.
What application areas is SmartCore most suited to?
SmartCore is best suited to lighting where there is a requirement for control and/or connectivity.
In terms of sectors, some of the areas we have added value to are Offices, Education, Healthcare, Vertical Farming and Entertainment.
Who are amBX’s ideal customers?
Our ideal customers are like-minded companies that want smarter buildings and are able to change the perception of what a building needs for future-proofing as opposed to cost reduction.
How do you empower partners?
We offer training, development licences and general support so that our partners can understand where we add value and allow them to offer greater solutions to projects.
Where does SmartCore fit into the overall building solution?
SmartCore’s embedded lighting control and sensor logic offers buildings the best experience and automation, but most importantly, it then connects this to the other building systems creating interoperability benefits. It allows lighting and buildings systems to be delivered in the normal way but with greatly reduced integration costs and increased functionality.
What value does SmartCore add for OEMs?
We offer sophisticated control, carefully designed lighting algorithms, custom user interfaces and integration with other services in the building.
We also have a range of ‘off the shelf’ user interface products that OEMs can purchase; these include Emergency Lighting Control and Circadian Lighting Control.
What value does SmartCore add for Lighting Control Companies?
We offer the ability to simplify system integration, which dramatically saves on overall project costs. This, therefore, means that Lighting Control companies are more likely to be specified if they can demonstrate the cost-saving - giving them a competitive advantage.
What value does SmartCore add for MSIs?
We provide compatibility, integration, data convergence and cloud connectivity, simplifying the process of unifying multiple disparate systems within a building.
Do you have commissioning/installation/deployment partners?
Yes, we have a range of partners offering these services; we can facilitate introductions and allow our clients to select the best fit for them.
Does amBX have hardware partners?
Yes, we have a range of hardware partners, but we can work with most hardware as our software is open and completely interoperable. Again, this gives the client much more choice and flexibility.
