amBX and Prysmian Group in Partnership
We are happy to announce that we have partnered with the €12 billion global leader of energy & telecom cables and systems – Prysmian Group.
Prysmian has almost 29,000 employees in over 50 countries and 108 plants; the Group is strongly positioned in high-tech markets and offers the widest possible range of products, services, technologies and expertise to its global client base.
They now offer PoE (Power over Ethernet) solutions. Their aim is to create high-performance smart building solutions through an integrated approach. They required an integration solution and software platform to connect with their PoE emergency lighting and also to provide control and insights via a user interface.
At amBX, we were able to provide the graphical interface and the integration for them with our protocol-agnostic software solution allowing Prysmian Group to sell an end-to-end solution to their customers.
Jon Couch, Chief Commercial Officer at amBX, stated: “We believe that partnership and collaboration are key to achieving safe, energy-efficient buildings that successfully meet occupant’s needs. PoE is a great technology that can facilitate a plug-and-play, reliable solution that delivers actionable insights”.
David Eves, Chief Technology Officer at amBX, went on to state, “we’re very excited to be working with Prysmian Group; our vision and values are aligned, and we’re excited to share more details about the work we are doing together soon.”
Keith Parker, Digital Building Solutions Program Director at Prysmian Group, shares amBX’s passion explaining how the strategic alliance will benefit a range of customers, from system integrators, network infrastructure companies, lighting companies, building owners and more.
“Prysmian’s industry-leading Category 6A cabling solutions, with PoE hardware, provide an intelligent infrastructure and is the best technology to enable smart building solutions. This, combined with amBX’s innovative software platform, creates a robust, cost-effective solution that dramatically improves sustainability, occupant safety, and operational efficiencies” - Keith Parker.
The emergency lighting solution is the initial focus of the partnership as the two companies feel that it is a vital component in buildings but that it is all too often fitted and forgotten about. A 2020 report from Hilclare found that 44% of English firms ‘don’t have the correct’ emergency lighting (The FPA 2022). And a 2018 report found that ‘over a third’ of the country’s social housing tower blocks have ‘inadequate’ emergency lighting (The FPA 2022).
Prysmian’s high-quality PoE Emergency Lighting solution is highly cost-effective to install when compared with traditional solutions, and it offers fully auditable maintenance and compliance data. Their cable solutions and lighting hardware are unified with amBX’s software to deliver an interoperable solution that is up to 75% quicker to commission compared with other leading solutions.
The emergency lighting solution improves the audit process, saves time, cost and improves safety standards. The system can automatically schedule tests and flag when there is a fault. Reports can also be quickly and easily viewed in a custom UI or exported, providing full transparency for all necessary stakeholders and enabling compliance to legislation.
